SUMARY/DRILL 3

By now i'm sure you realize how mental starts are, if you really get into the psychology of this, its just a mental exercise, so the question starts to become how do i fine tune my focus to dial these starts in each and every time?

follow the bellow to take your starts to the next level!

STARTS

The goal here is to lower your heart rate on the starting line so you can dial in your focus to optimize your start.

The 4-7-8 Breath (also known as the Relaxing Breath) is the perfect, portable stress antidote, as it puts the practitioner in a relaxed state almost immediately; It takes almost no time, requires no equipment and can be done anywhere.

1.    Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound.

2.    Close your mouth and inhale quietly through your nose to a mental count of four.

3.    Hold your breath for a count of seven.

4.    Exhale completely through your mouth, making a whoosh sound to a count of eight. This is one breath.

5.    Now inhale again and repeat the cycle three more times for a total of four breaths.

-Do the following with this start routine. Your goal is to do 5 perfect starts in a row which is much harder than it sounds trust me this may take you a while to get to 5, because after you mess up a start you have to start back at zero. Try to do this exercise twice a week to help you prefect your start I want you to visualize your start before each one , go through the entire motion from start to finish. Remember your brain doesn’t know the difference between mental rehearsal (visualization) and the physical activity       ( actually doing the start)

·      5 starts W/ visualization (goal 10 perfect in row, restart @ 0 after mistake)

**These mental exercises require practice like anything else, so do not expect to be good at this after 1 or 2 days**
